On 11 March 2014, Consul-General Song Yumin visited Geelong, the second largest city of Victoria and a manufacturing hub. He met with Mayor of Geelong Darryn lyons, Geelong Grammar School Principal Stephen meek, and Costa Group Chairman Frank Costa.
Consul-General Song congratulated Mr. Lyons on his election as the 95th Mayor of Geelong, and briefed him on the two pairs of sister cities, between Jiangsu Province and Victoria, and between Lianyungang and Geelong. He invited Mayor Lyons to lead a delegation to China in the near future. Mayor Lyons passionately briefed Consul-General Song on its blueprint of industrial transformation and port construction in Geelong during his tenure, and pledged to create a more favorable environment for Chinese investors.
