Notice to Foreigners to Study in China for the Academic Year of 2000/2001
2003-11-14 00:00
Since the reform and opening-up policy in 1987, China has received over 300 thousand overseas students from more than 160 countries. They include language students, undergraduates, postgraduate (MA and Ph D), senior visiting scholars and general scholars. Financially, they are divided into two groups: scholarship students and self-supporting students.

The China Scholarship Council (CSC) takes charge of:
(1) the applications for and management of the Chinese government scholarships for foreigners' study in China.
(2) the application and enrollment of candidates recommended by overseas academic institutions, educational organizations or non-governmental friendly associations.
(3) individual application to study in China as self-supporting student.

The CSC has established wide contact with 400 Chinese institutions of higher learning or so and thus is able to provide first rate consulting and other services. The CSC welcomes outstanding young students, scholars and teachers selected by all other countries coming to study or research at tertiary educational institutions in China.
