Consul General Song Yumin attended the launching ceremony of the Quickpass Service of UnionPay

On the morning of 11 June, the launching ceremony of UnionPay Quickpass Service was held by UnionPay International and ANZ Bank in the flagship store of Myer in Melbourne. Chinese Consul General to Melbourne Song Yumin, UnionPay International CEO Cai Jianbo, ANZ CEO Michael Smith and Myer CEO Richard Umbers attended the ceremony and delivered remarks. Commercial Consul of the Chinese Consulate-General in Melbourne Liu Yu and about 150 friends from business community attended the launching ceremony.

Consul General started by expressing congratulations on the commercial strategic cooperation between UionPay International, ANZ and Myer. He stressed that with the signing of a China-Australia FTA on the horizon, tourism and financial industry in Australia will enjoy the greatest benefit, and there will be unprecedented opportunities for Australian businesses including ANZ and Myer, and by then, the UionPay platform will bring even vaster growth potential for ANZ and Myer.

At present, the UnionPay card acceptance network covers over 150 countries and regions. A powerful example in particular is the tremendous progress in Australia, with over 80 percent growth for two years in a row. By starting comprehensive UnionPay acceptance in ANZ and Myer, UnionPay cards coverage in Australia will be brought up by 80 percent and 55 percent in ATMs and merchants respectively. These ATMs and merchants will all be able to accept "Quick Pass", which marks its new progress in non-Asian market.
